Brescia U adding bowling team to its athletics

The Bearcats will join the Mid-South Conference
Brescia University in Owensboro, Ky.

OWENSBORO, Ky. — Brescia University is pleased to announce it will be adding a bowling team to its Athletic Program.

The university has over 20 athletic program, including varsity and junior varsity levels, with the addition of a men’s volleyball team last year. The bowling teams, both men’s and women’s, will start their season in Fall 2024.

“It is exciting to add men’s and women’s bowling to our athletics programs and to have Troy lead and grow the program,” Mark Perdue, Brescia University athletic director, said of the new team.

There are over 500 colleges and universities with bowling teams according to the U.S. Bowling Congress. The Bearcats will join the Mid-South Conference, which added bowling in their 2012-2013 season. In addition to the Mid-South Conference, both teams will compete will be a part of the NAIA, which held their 4th Annual National Championship in March.

Brescia has named Troy DeWald as head coach of both teams. DeWald brings over 25 years of coaching experience.

“I have enough experience at the collegiate level to understand what it takes for a team to be successful.  I am absolutely looking forward to building, growing, and sustaining a winning and successful program here at Brescia.”
