Lake Cumberland Wound Care recognized as a Healogics Center of Distinction

SOMERSET, Ky. — The Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center recently achieved recognition as a 2023 Healogics Center of Distinction and received the prestigious Robert A. Warriner III, M.D., Center of Excellence award.

This recognizes the Wound Care Center for achieving outstanding clinical and operational results in 2023, including a comprehensive healing rate greater than 83% and a patient satisfaction rate greater than 92%, which puts them in the top 10% of nearly 600 Healogics centers in the country. Healogics is the nation’s largest provider of advanced wound services.

The award is named for Dr. Robert A. Warriner III, a pioneer in wound care and the former Chief Medical Officer for Healogics.

“Receiving this award is a tremendous honor. I’m immensely proud of our team’s dedication, which shines through in our exceptional clinical outcomes and remarkable patient feedback,” Toni Brooks, RN, BSN, M.Ed, director of the center, said.

The Healogics network of nearly 600 centers, with access to benchmarking data, treats 2.5 million chronic wounds. Lake Cumberland Center offers highly specialized wound care to patients suffering from diabetic ulcers, pressure ulcers, infections and other chronic wounds. Advanced modalities provided by experts include negative pressure wound therapy, total contact casting, bio-engineered tissues and biosynthetic dressings. Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center also offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy, which surrounds the patient with 100% oxygen to accelerate healing.

“The Wound Care Center provides outstanding specialized care for patients throughout our community,” said Robert Parker, CEO at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. “Every individual entering our clinic receives unparalleled, high-quality care, and this recognition is a testament to our team’s dedication. It’s truly a blessing to collaborate with Dr. Shelton, Toni Brooks, Brian Shannon, and the fantastic wound care team members who exemplify such profound compassion in treating our patients every day.”
