University of Kentucky appoints new vice provost

Jana Jasinski

After a robust national search, Jana Jasinski has been named vice provost for the University of Kentucky. Pending approval by the board of trustees, Jasinski will step into the role effective Aug. 15.

The vice provost is a new leadership role within the Office of the Provost that partners with colleges and their leaders, along with other senior leadership on campus, to continue the university’s mission of advancing Kentucky.

Jasinski is currently vice provost for faculty excellence and Pegasus Professor of Sociology at the University of Central Florida (UCF), where she has served as vice provost for faculty excellence since 2018 and served in an interim capacity in 2017. In this role, Jasinski has been primarily responsible for faculty professional development and operations at UCF and facilitates promotion and tenure decisions, faculty awards and policies and regulations impacting faculty.

Jasinski holds bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees in sociology from the University of New Hampshire. She will be succeeding Jennifer Greer, who has served as acting vice provost since September 2023. Greer will resume her role as dean of UK’s College of Communication and Information.
